His creation, vast and majestic, is symbolic of his love for us. He is there in the darkness - he meets us with love and welcomes us home. We are His children. He is healing all the parts of my broken heart and putting me back together with patience, tenderness and care. He designed us to know His love. He designed this world so that we can see how beautiful His heart is.
This is a new chapter for me - and the excitement I feel is powerful. Design will take a backseat for all that’s to come. I have a New Purpose.

Today is a struggle. My illness is mostly invisible. It is difficult. It is something I wish I could leave behind and run from in both a literal and figurative sense. But - that is not the reality that sits before me. Some days are tolerable, a few have been glorious this year, and yet most of them . . . are extremely difficult. But, all of this suffering has delivered me to the feet of my Savior. For that I am grateful. But - please know that it doesn’t take away the suffering - I am strong in my faith but often weak in my spirit. I’m human - whereas before my illness and even during the first whispers of it as it started, I acted superhuman. I was prideful in my extreme fitness, judging others who didn’t value their health, who seemed to savor their slothful ways, who abused their body. But then - it was all taken away from me. My strength. My health. My ability to exercise. All of it. I understand why this happened- truly- because in order to find God, my idols had to perish. Health being my most prized idol of all - it was stripped away. The grief I feel for the loss of my health - it is still there, but now instead of burdening those who can’t help, I grieve mostly to and in front of Jesus. I deliver my pleas and my tears to Him first. God is kind and good, and no matter what happens whether He cures me (and it will have to be Him as no one seems to know how to help me) or whether I endure this to the end of my days, I will praise and honor Him. No matter what. It won’t always be pretty, and it won’t be perfect, and I will fail more than I succeed, BUT I choose Jesus. Always. Forever. No matter what. For He is the way, the truth and the life. There is beauty in pain - if only you know where to look.

Novel Interiors doesn’t fit anymore. I have changed my mission and my name to New Purpose Interiors and here’s why:

On Labor Day of this year, after a decade of storms, I broke early in the morning. I found myself sobbing, on my knees, I couldn’t imagine breathing, moving, I didn’t know HOW to live anymore.

The moment had been coming for quite some time, and for sure I have flirted with rock bottom for years now, but on September 2nd, I was flat down in a pile of rubble of my own making. My years of being a control freak, of striving and pushing and trying to control everything in my life – it all came crashing down. I was buried alive by my own hand.

I had two choices, to commit myself to an outpatient mental facility or pick up the word of God, pray, and finally surrender to him.

I choose the latter option. That day, crying and praying earnestly on my hands and knees, with my heart cracked wide open, I begged Jesus to enter. I surrendered to Him.

There is SO more to the story of that day, miraculous things, and I will reveal all in time. I can feel some of you rolling your eyes – and thinking to yourself, yeah, I KNOW God. I was one of those people. Or, maybe you don’t know God and you’re rolling your eyes and thinking, “WOW, another one of these people.”

Despite your opinion or bias or emotion concerning this, I encourage you to follow along on this journey. Watch my page, listen to my story. I want your heart to be healed by the love of Jesus. I want you to have a new interior and live a joy filled life. I’m here for where the design meets the divine.

I look strong and happy here. I wasn’t. Read on:
My physical strength has always been a source of pride, to the point where exercise became my drug of choice. A true addict, I invested so much time and thought into making my body a perfect machine. Daily hours spent running, spinning, lifting weights, walking, stretching, eating the right foods . . . I invested my entire heart and being into becoming perfectly strong. I worshipped my efficiency, achievements and perseverance.

But, something sinister lurked in the shadows. By 2019 my health was freefalling. I was plagued with debilitating fatigue, brain fog, horrific gut issues, headaches, insomnia, name the symptom and I had it. And yet? I didn’t stop. I continued punishing my body in every way, trying to claw my way back to health, and all the while my body screamed at me to STOP. I disregarded every red flag. And, while my health fell apart, so many other things in my life did as well.

I was in the middle of a brutal storm, my strength was being stripped away from me. I think back to those dark moments, and I can’t believe how blind I was. Jesus knew that for me, because of my character, that it was essential that I be brought to the end of myself so that I could find a new beginning in Him. All of us must come to the end of ourselves. Perhaps it is easier for you to reach out, but for me, Jesus knew that I needed this, and I PRAISE him for it. I thank Him even now as I still struggle with my health, because I understand. I am thankful for it, because it brought me to my knees and cracked open my heart to Him, and NOW, everything has changed. The peace and joy and love I have is overwhelming. Because of Him, not because of ourselves, we have life now and for all of eternity. I beg you to truly lay down your arms and fall into His. He heals all; he mends our hearts, our souls, our minds. There is nothing else like Him in the universe. Truly. I pray that all my followers find Him.

This is the room where I retreated after I broke,

This is the room where I retreated after I broke, it was on the floor by this coffee table where I sought Jesus in earnest for the first time in my life. He heard my cries, and He changed my life. While the prayer was simple - the journey to that moment was not.

This life breaks us into a million pieces, and we can either lay among the rubble and bleed or we can cry out and be healed. I cried out. Jesus healed me.

The profound miracle of this - and it is a miracle - can’t be understood until you experience it. Truly. I never understood it. I’m ashamed to say I used to roll my eyes at it, and how callously I disrespected His power and spirit and his infinite love. I believe we do this when we don’t understand something, when we’re envious of it. But reconsider your position my beloved.

I pray that you cry out to him to change your heart, to come and dwell, for it is only when we die to Him that we can live. And this is not a one and done; it’s a daily and moment by moment practice.

Find a place in your home to seek Him. This room has become so special to me. This coffee table holds books, journals, my favorite daily devotional book, it holds my past and my future. ✝️💕

I’m back, but not for me. Let me explain. There’s been a major life transformation that has happened, and because of this, my page will look a bit different from now on. Because my heart ❤️ is now fully and completely owned by my Savior, Jesus.

After a ten year battle of absolute darkness and despair that began with my son, @andyschmidt.wav being hit head on by a pickup truck in 2015 (he survived and that is a faith story all in itself that I will soon share) to a failed adoption, to a major and ongoing health battle, to dealing with those who operate outside of Jesus (and so much more that I will detail someday in a book), I broke and surrendered my life to Jesus.

What you won’t find here is commercialism - no more making you want things you can’t have or afford, no more designs (at least not yet), but you will see beautiful images that are accompanied by words of encouragement, truths about what it is to know that Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life, and maybe some design tips and tricks sprinkles in.

Please know: I used to roll my eyes at this kind of transformation- at this unabashed love for Jesus and now I’m humbled by it. I’m overwhelmed by my love for Him. You don’t understand until it happens to you. Truly. While I was a “believer” this is wholly and eternally different. He has taken root in my heart and unleashed a desire to know Him and become like Him and lead others to this remarkable love.

I knocked - truly - and he opened the door. As my beautiful friend @shaysmason writes in her book, “the Creator of the universe, wants to make his home in your heart. He gives us access to all that is his. With his love has taken root to our heart, true understanding is unleashed and faith flourishes.
